Agneepath - Movie Review

Agneepath Director : Karan Malhotra Cast : Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Om Puri, Zareena Wahab Music : Ajay Atul MY RATING : 6.7/10 REFLECTIONS Filled with over the top expectations and a promise to fulfil, had I set out on a sunny thursday afternoon to watch the much awaited Karan Johar's Agneepath in the cultural capital of Kerala- Thrissur. After walking around the the Temple round, I finally reached Jose talkies where they were playing Agneepath and damn them to hell... there was crowd just enough to pull off a HOUSEFUL for the first day matinee, which is a big deal for any Hindi movie in Kerala! Okay, let's talk about the film now, since I haven't witnessed the original Agneepath, I won't be comparing the two (which of course is the greatest justice I would be doing to both the films). The typical story of son seeking out revenge from his father's killer is the entire story in a nutshell, but what

Rockstar - Movie Review

ROCKSTAR Director : Imtiaz Ali Music : AR Rahman Lyrics : Irshad Kamil Cast : Ranbir Kapoor, Nargis Fakhri, Shammi Kapoor, Aditi Rao Every time Imtiaz Ali makes a movie, I get filled with extreme curiosity and a vigorous will to watch the movie on the first day itself! Socha na tha created that urge and Jab we met only elevated it. Maybe, it’s the soul-touching music along with the soul-rendered lyrics that give rise to such an urge. Or maybe it’s the impression his movies create in the first trailer itself! But as long as the film justifies the expectations, you don’t want to blame anyone. However, when the film doesn’t live upto that hype, the level of liquid descends in your heart. Love Aaj Kal, despite my craze for the movie’s lead pair & the song DOORIYAN, I ended up spitting at the movie after watching it once. The reason??? Simple enough, the director promised something in his trailers & the songs, but the movie failed to nurture and reap what it had promised. It

Shaitaan (Movie Review)

Shaitaan Movie Review Directed by Bejoy Nambiar Cast : Rajeev Khandelwal, Kalki Koechlin, Gulshan Devaiya , Shiv Pandit, Neil Bhoopalam, Kirti Kulhari, Rajit Kapoor, Pawan Malhotra and Raj Kumar Yadav. Music : Prashant Pillai, Amar Mohile, Ranjit Barot, Anupam Roy MY RATING : 8/10 Source : Times of India A decade back, Anurag Kashyap directed his first film Paanch which, despite being unreleased till date, is perhaps the most popular pirated film of Bollywood. For people who missed Paanch , Shaitan kinda revisits the basic plotline of the film, proving that Kashyap's directorial debut was ahead of its time and one can relate to its theme and treatment in today's times. NRI Amy (Kalki Koechlin) shifts to Mumbai and makes friends with a bunch of urban brats who believe in living life on the edge. The gang includes the loaded KC (Gulshan Devaiya), a drug-peddler Dash (Shiv Pandit), model-cum-aspiring actress Tanya (Kirti Kulhari) and the idler Zubin (Neil Bhoopalam). A

Engeyum Kadal (Movie Review)

Engeyum Kadhal Engeyum Kadal is one such movie that is very pleasing to watch , it has a very soothing effect .The plot is something very rare . It is a love story...but a different one . Like every love story has a hero heroine and a villain ....lots of fights ....the hero coming in for the rescue of the heroine and all that . In this movie there is nothing of that sorts .Yes of course it has a hero and heroine ...but it doesnt have any villains nor any fights .As far as the location is considered it is just amazing and a perfect one. Paris is known as the city of love..is the best loaction for a romantic movie like this ...A very good work done by the cinematographer....Moreover this movie is a straight ripoff of the english movie LOVE IN THE AFTERNOON(1957). About the soundtrack of the movie ,I would say this the best work of Haris Jayaraj....This movie has all together 7 extraordinary tracks .....out of which one song "Nangai" sung by Richard and written by Vaali is a

Tanu Weds Manu (Movie Review)

pollcode.com free polls How is Tanu Weds Manu (Rate out of 5) 0 1 2 3 4 5    TANU WEDS MANU - Movie Review Director: Aanand Rai Cast: R Madhavan, Kangna Ranaut, Jimmy Shergill, Ravi Kishan, Ejaaz Khan, Rajendra Gupta, K K Raina, Deepak Dobriyal, Swara Bhaskar MY RATING - 7/10 My verdict - watch it for Madhavan and the cute story. Kangana has been overrated again as she literally can't act! Music is good and has been a hit in North India. But don't miss the World Cup for this movie ;) Check out all updates & songs from Tanu Weds Manu here... Nikhat Kazmi's review for Times of India Been there, done that? Yes, the first thing that strikes you about Tanu Weds Manu is a striking sense of familiarity. It wasn't long before you saw Shahid Kapoor playing a similar sacrificial lover to Kareena Kapoor in Jab We Met. And like poor Kareena, who tries too sort out her confused emotions against the backdrop of the big fat Punjabi wedding, Tanu too must decide

Patiala House (Movie Review)

How is Patiala House? Stupid Movie Wonderful super hit! One time watch Don't care!    pollcode.com free polls Patiala House (Movie Review) Cast - Akshay Kumar, Rishi Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Dimple Kapadia Music - Shankar Ehsaan Loy Direction - Nikhil Advani Genre - Drama MY RATING - 6/10 Review Source- http://entertainment.oneindia.in Critics play a vital role in determining the fate of a film – at least to ensure a good opening. Many read film reviews and check rating before heading for the theatres. So, this piece of news would worry the makers of Patiala House. But why? Because it has got mixed reviews - from good reviews to not so good reviews to bad reviews. Different critics have given different verdict for the film. Popular critic Taran Adarsh is all praise for the film and describes it as a 'pleasant surprise'. “Patiala House is a film about attachments, affiliations and familial bonding. It's a compelling watch, more for its drama and histrionics than anyt

Byomkesh Bakshi (2010) Bangla/Bengali Classic remake (movie review)

I remember back in the days of yore, there used to be an television in my house that had no remote control and once you switched it on, had the capability of playing only two channels - DD1 & DD Metro. There were very few serials unlike these days where every crappy INdian channel plays the worst from a junkyard of soaps and reality shows. There were few serials but those were enough. The Quality of those serials could never be attained by contemporary serials. One of such brillaint series was that of Bangla detective character- Byomkesh Bakshi. played by an excellent artist, Rajat Kapur. I was amused and splendidly excited to see the name once again in today's newspaper, but what was it doing in the current release showtimings section of delhi times? That's when I realized that the movie had been released yesterday. Byomkesh Bakshi, a Bangla movie, isn't that exciting, I don't know if the generation Y is even aware of this classic Indian Sherlock Holmes, for they h

Yamla Pagla Deewana (Movie Review)

Yamla Pagla Deewana My Rating : 6.8/10 Verdict - Entertaining film with funny gags   There has been a dearth of masala entertainers in Bollywood, despite them doing well. DABANGG and GOLMAAL 3 are recent examples of such films that had the audience flock in cinema halls in large numbers. YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA might just do the trick and get added to the list. After APNE, the Deols are back with YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA. Their comeback film blends the lost-and-found formula with some recent popular films like K3G and DDLJ. Paramveer Singh Dhillon (Sunny Deol) is an NRI living in Canada with his mother, gori wife and two kids. He comes to India to find his estranged father Dharam Singh (Dharmendra) and brother Gajodar Singh (Bobby Deol), who are now the biggest thugs in Banaras. Dharam and Gajodhar accept him only to use his muscle power in their unscrupulous activities. Meanwhile, Gajodhar finds himself head over heels in love with Sardarni Saheba (debutante Kulraj Randhawa). Their romance

Jhootha Hi Sahi - Movie Review

pollcode.com free polls Rate this movie (out of 5) 1 2 3 4 5    There are somethings that really bother me... and one of those things is when unworthy things get all the undeserving praise while deserving one's go unnoticed....or even worse..are spit upon... Such is this movie....Jhootha Hi Sahi This is the second movie by Director Abbas Tyrewala, who's last tryst with Bollywood was Imran Khan - GENELIA (brainless) starrer Jaane Tu ya jaane na...which was quite undeserving..yet a huge blockbuster...among the Indian youth...However the second movie has failed to register any good impression in the minds of the same youth. The movie is a light romantic comedy, and picks up slowly with John attending an Indian Suicide hotline...coz of a little mistake on the side of the NGO or whatever run by Nandana Sen. That's how he has an encounter on phone with Mishka played brilliantly by Pakhi! John and Mishka become phone friends...although she still doesn't know anyt

Raktacharitra 1 - Movie Review

pollcode.com free polls Rate this movie (out of 5) 1 2 3 4 5    Ram Gopal Varma or the so called- RAMU sir had lost his AAG after his AAG went into PANI...and after years of TAPASYA...he is finally back with a film that is able to keep the veiwer at the edge of his seat and towards the end, crave him to come back for the sequel! For a change, the film is set in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh and is based on the true story of Paritala Ravi & his tryst with NTR! Vivek Oberoi portrays the role of Pratap Ravi who's based on Paritala Ravi and carries the movie on his shoulder after the first half. While the first half is swayed away by a brilliant performance by Abhimanyu Singh who plays Bukka Reddy, son of slain Political snake Nagamani Reddy played by South supervillain KOTA SRINIVASA RAO. The Films sets off with the brutal massacre of Pratap's father at the order of Narasimha Reddy, and thus an angry elder son played by Sushant Singh sets out to chop off e

Aakrosh - Movie Review

A movie about honour killings that have swept the sands of Northern India is what is seemingly the USP of this action packed CBI melodrama. Having watched this movie in an almost empty SRS Cinema hall in Gurgaon, I felt more like at home. Priyadarsan takes a different route this time and decides to put up a Action Investigation film on the lines of Malayalam Sethurama Iyer CBI movies, although, the plot is more fresh and not really a remake of any particular malayalam film, like he used to do previously. The film has been set in a village JHANJHAR in North India, where three young men have vanished and apparently suspected to be killed by their classmates in some medical college in New Delhi. Thus, sets Akshaye Khanna, a very dutiful, thanda & gassy CBI officer en route to Jhaanjhar to track the wrong doers. Funnily, Jhaanjhar is a real village in Haryana, but the villagers speak in Bhojpurish Hindi which is nothing like the aggressive tone that's used in Haryanvi Hindi and t

Endhiran - The Robot (MOVIE REVIEW)

I have been expecting a lot from this movie and it's obvious from the way I was trying to promote this movie on my blog. It's not just me, It's the entire Southern Part of India, that's been eagerly waiting for the release of this epic. What makes it more special is that, it's going to be my first Rajni padam (film). Although, I saw Baasha at the time of it's release, but then I was a little kid and didn't understand anything. Now, decades later, Rajni Sir is back with Shankar's Endhiran. Endhiran starts off with cute as well as dirty humor which can make the young and old chuckle indifferently. The Robot 'CHITTI' is shown as an innocent learner in the first few scenes and his innocence perfectly gels with Santhanam & Karunas apt one liners. There's special cameo by Malayalam actors late Cochin Hanifa & Kalabhavan Mani and an entire scene with the mosquitoes of Chennai (:P)....and mind it! It's really funny. Rajni as Dr.Vasigh

Khichdi - The Movie (Preview)

So, finally India wakes up to the western philosophy of weaving blockbuster films out of successful Tv series. The first trial in Hindi is Khichdi, the hit sitcom from the 2000s finally makes its big screen debut on October 1st 2010. The trailor has been arranged quite hilariously, giving sneak peeks into the lighter and heartier moments of the film. The film has almost all of the characters from the sitcom, although some of the characters might look different for they will be played by different actors. The film focuses on Himanshu's wedding. Produced by Fox Star pictures and directed by Aatish Kapadia has Satish Shah playing an important role too. My Expectation Rating - 9.5/10

Knight and Day (My Movie Review)

Hello everyone...it's midnight here and I am just back from the last show of Knight and Day. It was amazing, that feeling! No No! I am not talking about the movie... hell no! But about the feeling you get when you are walking all alone on an absolutely voidal road in the middle of the night. Well, I didn't have much expectations from this one, just went to watch coz they were giving away at a cheap rate of 70 bucks! Which is way too attractive than the usual 200 bucks charged for english flicks. The only eason I trusted this movie was the presence of Tom Cruise. Well, the movie starts off with bumping and rebounding at an airport as our protagonist meets his lady! Soon, they are off into an adventure which was way too predictable and over the top! The suspense was very usual! The action sequences were awesome though, that was the only reason to stay glued to the screen. Excellent vfx & action make this movie worth some praise. As for the storyline, well it's very bor

Raavan (Movie Review)

pollcode.com free polls How is Raavan Awesome Worst movie Average    There was lot of expectations from Raavan. After a long tiring morning, I prayed that the matinee would finally pay off the sweat that I egested on this hot summer's day. But sadly, The beginning was very poorly narrated and improperly woven. It did break my heart...but I had enough faith on Mani Ratnam's vision. And you know what, as the story progressed, things took off pretty awesomely, especially after the interval. It's a strange thing, but normally our bollywood and other Indian movies have an awesome first half but the second half is usually long and boring. Here, it's a different scenario. The first 15 minutes was pathetic....soon it was SO-SO.....and towards the interval the story had started narrating itself properly. But after the interval, every frame, every scene was a speckle of Brilliance. The story revolves around Beera played by Abhishek who is supported by his two brothers Mangal

Paiya (Movie Review)

Hmmm....the agony of sitting alone in an almost empty audi at PVR, Gurgaon...on a hot Thursday noon wasn't felt today...maybe coz of the movie's edge of the seat narration....or maybe coz....there...were..afterall...a few people watching the movie... other than the Hindi speaking Nepali ushers ... To be frank...I was very much excited about the movie...coz of its music and Karthi's presence... Music plays a huge role in luring the viewer to the theatre...and this movie is a classic example...Yuvan Shankar Raja's scores played a pivotal part in dragging me to the cinema hall (I had to cut my college today...)...as well as plying me to the seats even between passing moments of boredom and draggery! The best one being Thuli Thuli Mazhayai.....followed by poongatre Poongatre and Adada Mazhaida... Now the story.....well..again its a typical Tamil action flick! The Hero is nothing less than a superhero who can get the hell outta bunch of big fat hooligans...all for the se
