Marinate with turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt. Keep aside for 15 mins. Meanwhile, grind together grated coconut, garlic, garam masala, pepper powder, green chillies and salt and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan and fry the brinjal pieces lightly until they change colour. (Important: dont overdo the frying). Remove from oil and keep aside.
