Day 1 @ My Farm

Post by K.Hari Kumar . So, I begin the work at my farm officially today. While every plant from the previous season was affected by wilt disease, only one survived. My Mom gives water to the lone survivor. The whole block will be replanted with chilly pepper saplings this week. That Frequent Visitor is the second novel by bestselling author K Hari Kumar (Richard Baxter). He is an acclaimed short filmmaker. Fascinated by the unknown he writes Paranormal Ficition. His first book, When Strangers Meet.., was a national bestselling title which talked about father-son relationship. The novel had enough suspense that kept readers glued till the end. He is fond of Dan Brown, Paulo Coelho, James Patterson, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Oscar Wilde, Bertrand Russel, S Radhakrishnan, Ruskin Bond, Khaled Hosseini, Jonathan Kellerman, Bram Stoker and Albert Camus. His contemporaries include Chetan Bhagat, Ravinder Singh, Ashwin Sanghi, Amish Tripathi, Ravi Subramnian, Piyus

K. Hari Kumar's official blog

Catch me on  http://thetimesofhari.blogspot.in/ Hey friends... I have been finding myself in this emblematic dilemma for quite a long time. Having seen so many people writing blogs and stuffs about their daily lives. Now that really wasn't much of a job, is it? Choose a platform, write few stuff, upload a picture and post it online... done! But the question was, who's gonna read all that stuff anyway? Some wise guy cracked long ago ' Karm karo... fal ki chinta mat karo ', I'm following His suite, just posting and not expecting... just like the good old days where people used to maintain journals. And for those who are Strangers  to me... I shall introduce myself... K.Hari Kumar is the 24-year old author of WHEN STRANGERS MEET.. He's also an international award nominated Photographer and independent filmmaker who has worked in over twenty television commercials, directed 6 short films and two documentaries (one for an international ar

The light of knowledge by K.Hari Kumar

‎ "The light of knowledge" Light symbolizes knowledge while darkness represents ignorance. The Lord is the "Knowledge Principle," or Chaitanya, who is the source, the enlivener and the illuminator of all knowledge.  Hence light is worshiped as the Lord himself. Lumbiniyile Rajahamsam : Book Review

thewinkstore.com LUMBINIYILE RAJAHAMSAM (The Royal Swan of Lumbini) Author : K. P. Ramesh Language : Malayalam Publisher : DC Books Price : Rs. 75 THIS COLLECTION of travel articles, presented in three parts, gives an overview of some interesting elements of India's cultural and religious ethos, apart from giving a glimpse of the historical evolution of certain places held high in public esteem for their spiritual significance. The first part covers visits to places linked to Gautama Buddha, including Kushi Nagar that houses a museum. The essays provide a fairly good description in a lucid language, although one finds clichéd expressions — for instance, “travelling in the chariot of time” and “the feeling of awakening from the night of one country to the morning of another country” — occurring rather frequently.

Hunting for the truth...

Hey folks! Ek Mithya - a short film I came up with the concept of Ek mithya after watching a hollywood movie called 'THE ECHO' which was itself a remake of an Asian movie. At that time (that was in February 2011), I had titled it A DELUSIONAL, but sadly it kept on falling prey to delays... And then finally one depressing night on the terrace of my old family house in Kerala, I sat down to make the screenplay... for A DELUSIONAL. Completing it within a week, I was quite excited to start the shoot... once I was back in Delhi for my exams. The title changed to EKK MITHYA... EKK driving inspiration from two of the movies that were releasing at that time: EKK DEEWANA THA and EK MEIN AUR EKK TU... Slowly and momentously I began my shoot... after adding few more twist and turns... changing the plot once again... roping in the love of my life... and then I changed my track... minor distractions... street dogs attacking me... and sudden return to Kerala, thereby cance

If caste has disappeared from the Indian Scenario

As once opposed by vicious phenomenon courtesy the great cultural heritge of India (Casteist Hinduism to be precise), on this day of modern era we easily get to see, rather do, people blending together regardless of their creed or caste in holy places like Udupi. It was the first time I had been to the ancestral town of Madhwa Brahmins in almost two decades. I remember my grqndmother talkung about the ways in Udupi back during their era; how the upper caste folks would keep lower caste people below their belts, suppressing the growth of such people in every way possible. Altering the Vedabhyaasa system and reserving it for the privileged elite was one such step. Something similar to what Dan Brown highlighted in his genius of a work, The Da Vinci Code. If there is some kind of a theory affirming the deep rooted evil of casteism then such a tattva is a manipulated one. The original Caste system was simply a way of dividing people on the basis of the work they performed. As far as I know

Settling down

Five days and three hours since coming back to my village in kerala, one thing that I have realized is an obvious and basic fact of my nature: Grass is always greener on the other bank. Lol! Talking about banks, i have been going in and out of banks since yesterday owing to account transfers and fund depositions. Even right now, as I am typing, I am breathing the air of another bank in Thrissur. Getting here wasn't a struggle. There is bus service to every nook and corner of the state. Auto rickshaw fares are quite affordable too. But whats not affordable is the way in which people here ply for Rules. There is a protocol for everything and people cry over smallest of defaults. Back in Gurgaon and Delhi, i used to feel that people were so negligent when it came to rules. The fact bothered me so much (especially in the middle of a traffic jam) but now I feel so opposed ironically. I really think that gurgaonites were better off as carefree kinda people for Now I am at a place that is

Lord Ayyappa : The Son of Shiva & Vishnu (Mohini)

For the past 2 and half months, clusters of men clad in black drapery have been trekking their way to finally reach their destination- SABARIMALA (शबरिमाला / ശബരിമല). The journey spanning a treacherous path of thorns and keeping alive severe worldly austerities on this journey to visit His Highness, Lord Ayyappa. Who is Ayyappa? People in the northern India often find the name funny and unsuitable for a God! Well, No offences, lack of knowledge can lead to such ignorant thinking. Lord Ayyappa is perhaps the most important Hindu deity for the people of Kerala and He is also followed in Tamil Nadu & Karnataka. Lord Ayyappa also known as Manikantha or the one with the bell around his throat is touted to be the son of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. Startled??? Surprised??? Shocked??? Well, the story dates back to the great Samudra Manthan (The churning of the Ocean) epic in the Hindu puranas. The clash took place between SurAs(Gods) and asurAs(Demons) to claim Amritham, which was a milky

Makar Sankranti & Makara Villakku

Here's Wikipedia's excerpts on this Indian Festival that marks the sun's transit. Makar Sankranti (Sanskrit: मकर संक्रान्ति, Assamese: মকৰ সংক্রান্তি, Telugu: మకర సంక్రాంతి, Marathi: मकर संक्रान्ति, Kannada: ಮಕರ ಸಂಕ್ರಾಂತಿ) or Sankranti or Sankranthi marks the transition of the Sun into Makara rashi (Capricorn) on its celestial path. Traditionally, this has been one of many harvest days in India. Makaravillakku Ceremony in Sabarimala (Kerala) Owing to the vast geography and diversity of culture in India, this festival is celebrated for innumerable reasons and in innumerable ways depending on the climate, agricultural environment, cultural background and location. Sankranti is celebrated since last 6000 years, as archeological findings in Latin America prove that the Mayans celabrated something similar to Sankranthi with Pongal, Pala kayalu, as some kind of spring festival.
