Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya (MOVIE REVIEW)

On a friday afternoon....I made through the bulging traffic of Jaipur Highway & MG Road.....to reach PVR MGF on time for the 3:25 show.....of the movie...that I wished to see in Kerala 2 weeks ago for just 30 bucks...in some air conditioned movie hall.....unfortunately...the movie released today.....4 days after I made my return.....from God's own country....hmmm....lets talk about this movie now....which one..u ask???....its VINNAITHAANDI VARUVAAYA.....which translates to.....I'll cross the skies for You....

The movie comes from Gautham Menon....the man who made....Minnale....Vaaranam Aayiram....Kaakha Kaakha.....REHNA HAI TERE DIL MEIN.......and like his previous flick.....this time...too....the Hero...is a young jobless mechanical engineer.....who is more creative than technical......and Our dear...SILAMBARASAN.....wants to become a FILMMAKER.....but soon.....he falls for this fairly simple yet complicated Catholic malayalee girl....Jessie (played by Trisha)....and thus...begins....the usual....MENON stuffs....the innocent humour.....plying to lusty blows of passion....some wonderful music....depicting every transition in the tale......although....the music is fairly different frm previous menon flicks....coz of the fact that.....this time....its Rahman who has done the job instead of Harris Jayaraj...so...thats one big...change...in the movie...
And soon..through some ups and downs.....the story shifts places...from CHENNAI to ALLAPUZHA in Kerala.....(as we see in most of his movies).....and then the story...goes topsy turvy,....just like Simbu says in the beginning.......IT AL GOES TOPSY TURVY....WHEN YOU FALL IN LOVE.....
Reclining parents.....confused lovers....and some beautiful moments serenaded by even more melodious songs....
The story is inspired by many different hollywood romantic comedies...and....kinda similar to LOVE AAJ KAL........
Now....the theme of the story....isnt their love.....but the option he has to choose....HIS LOVE FOR HER....OR FOR CINEMA......which by the way.....is lost after the first 15 minutes itself.....and doesn't show up...until the climax........so...the middle part....esp...after the interval is VERY BORING....and draggy ......even the songs.....sound tiring...and JAANE TUish.....esp...the track...VINNAITHAANDI VARUVAAYA.....which is quite....unbearable...towards the end....there were a few needless scenes....which were coupled.....with some songs....
The beginning is quite interesting...and so are the songs....fresh out of Rahman's kitty......Hosanna....was awesome....and so was....Omana Penne.....but...soon...the middle...was unbearable.....and towards the climax....when he decides to make his first movie......about his own love story....is when...things.....take a u turn......and u want to fasten ur seatbelts.........and what happens....in the end...is TWIST.,,,,,the big twist....something....that.....Gautham executed pretty well......and towards...the end....u will be getting out with a smiling face.....that God! I did not waste my 150 bucks on some crap.....coz this movie...is good.....slow...yet beautiful....and there are certain shots...taken in Kerala...that...are way beyond awesome....esp...the song....MANNIPAAYA......the...moon...hovering over the backwaters of Kerala.....wow!.....I miss...HOME...already....
There...is no....BAKWAAS...or slapstick tamil humor...which is quite characteristic of Gautham's movies......THE HUMOUR is mature and innocent.....and the special appearance...of his highness....KS RAVIKUMAR (director of blockbusters like dasavatharam and aadhavan)....as the director under whom karthik (simbu) is associated....and then...his own name is taken a few times..in the beginning....all those typical sarcasm....sounded hilarious....
Let's talk about the performance.....Simbu...was just himself...and did well...he looked great...esp in the first half........Trisha...well...she looked old....and way too older than Simbu (although in the movie shez just one year elder to him)......and her acting has been good.....others......well..I cud only spot Napolean.....the veteran mallu actor......and he did a decent job as trisha's father....rest of the actors.....were....almost unknown faces.......
The camera work...is awesome.....The movie...is 90% tamil.....and 10% in Malayalam...and the subtitling has been very accurate....although trisha's malayalam...was too crude...and impotent...
The question...."THERE ARE SO MANY GIRLS IN THIS WORLD...BUT WHY DID I HAVE TO FALL IN LOVE WITH JESSIE?"...has been used 4 times in the movie....in the beginning....twice by Simbu....once by his CAMERAMAN friend....during the middle....and towards the end....by Trisha....and that dialogue is quite important.....just like the name of the movie....quite apt...and accurate.....the way....they kept meeting intentionally as well as accidently....spanning....boundaries...and even continents.....proves the worth of the title....I WILL CROSS THE SKIES FOR YOU....VINNAITHAANDI VARUVAAYA

My rating - 4 out of 5
Go watch it....

Krishna Nee Begane Baaro - Kannada Lyrics & Translation

Unveiling the Depths of "Krishna Nee Begane Baaro" Krishna Nee Begane Baaro  (Oh Krishna, Please Come) transcends the realm of a simple  Kannada devotional song . Composed by the revered saint-poet  Vyasatirtha , it offers a powerful expression of devotion and yearning for the divine presence of Lord Krishna. A Melody Steeped in Tradition: The essence of  Krishna Nee Begane Baaro  lies in its music. The melody flows serenely in  Raga Yamunakalyani , its notes reminiscent of the gentle murmur of the Yamuna River. The rhythmic pattern,  Chapu , adds a structured elegance, providing the perfect foundation for the heartfelt lyrics. Vyasatirtha, a prominent figure in the  Dvaita school of Madhvacharya philosophy , infused the song with his profound understanding of the divine. A Source of Solace: Krishna Nee Begane Baaro  resonates far beyond its cultural significance. The song's calming melody offers a sense of peace and comfort during challenging times. Mere Bina (Lyrics, English Translation)

मेरे बिना (Mere Bina) CROOK OST Music - Pritam Singer - Nikhil D'Souza Lyrics - Kumaar MY RATING - 9/10 Reflections A very romantic western number by new comer Nikhil D'Souza. Pritam has crooned Pop hits by Darius and Enrqiue alike to create a magical ballad that hooks you to its smoothness the moment the song starts. Nikhil sounds like Atif at times, but nevertheless is a promsing find!   Lyrics (English Translation) Mere Bina Rehne laga hun Teri hawaon me Behne laga hun I have started living without you... I have started floating in the breeze that you are jaane main kaise tera hua hu mujhe to lagta hai main shayad tere dil ki dua hu Haan Tujhko jo paaya ahan To jeena aaya Ab ye lamha theher jaye tham jaye bas jaye hum Dono ke darmiyaaaaan I don't know how I have become yours I think I am the boon from your heart Yea! Now that I found you...I have learnt to live Now this moment may stop here at this very moment when the two of us are together
