Lord Vishņu is touted as a root that grows both above and below in the following stanza and such a tree which has no limitations set by time
सुलभः सुव्रतः सिद्धः शत्रु जिछ्चात्रुतापनः |
न्याग्रोधोदुम्बरो अश्वथः चाणुरान्द्रनिशूधनः ||
sulabhah suvratah siddhah śatrujichchatrutāpanah
nyagrodhodumbaro aśvathah chāņurāndraniśūdanah
