इक्तारा / इक तारा
Movie: Wake Up Sid!
Singers: Kavita Seth, Amitabh Bhattacharya
My Rating - 8/10
Reflections
This track from Wake Up Sid! is fresh off the hooks. The lyrics are seemingly inspired from medieval Hindi poems as you can see the words Baawara, Manva etc repeating themselves. The Chorus part is the (Dil mei Goonja hai Iktara Iktara) is the part that successfully stands out throughout the play duration of the song, rest of the song is above average. A fusion of Indian rAga and western instumental is quite common now especially in the neo-age Indian films like this one. Is a peaceful track to listen to, and give it 8 out of 10!
Lyrics (Translation)
O Mere Manawa Tu Toh Baawara Hai (Oh My Mind! You are crazy and unstable like a butterfly)
Tu Hi Jaane Tu Kya Sochata Hai (Only you know what's in your MIND)Tu Hi Jaane Tu Kya Sochata Hai (Only you know what's in your MIND)
Baawarein (Crazy)
Kyun Dikhaaye Sapane Tu Sote Jaagate (Why do you show me dreams when I am asleep or awake?)
Jo Barase Sapane Bund Bund Naino Ko Mund Mund (The Dreams pour drop by drop like rain touching my eyes)Kaise Main Chalu Dekh Na Saku Anjaan Raaste (I can't see how do I walk this unknown path)
Gunja Sa Hai Koyi Iktaara Iktaara (Some stringed instrument just made a sound! an echo!)
Dil Mein Bole Koyi Iktaara Iktaara, Dil Mein Bole Koyi Iktaara (In My Heart,
Some string instrument just made a sound! an echo!)
Gunja Sa Hai Koyi Iktaara Iktaara - (2)
Sun Rahi Hoon Main Sudh Budh Khoke Koyi Main Kahaani (I am listening to some story with a mind that has lost its sense)
Puri Kahaani Hai Kya Kise Hai Pata (But nobody knows the complete story. No one knows its ending!)
Main Toh Kisiki Hoke Yeh Bhi Na Jaani (I belonged to someone still I couldn't know)
Rut Hai Yeh Do Pal Ki Ya Rahegi Sada (If this season was for a moment or forever!)
Kise Hai Pata (Who knows?)
Jo Barase Sapane Bund Bund Naino Ko Mund Mund
Kaise Main Chalu Dekh Na Saku Anjaan Raaste
Gunja Sa Hai Koyi Iktaara Iktaara - (4)
Dil Mein Bole Koyi Iktaara Iktaara, Dil Mein Bole Koyi Iktaara
Gunja Sa Hai Koyi Iktaara Iktaara - (2)

Thanks for the translation. But Iktara here refers to a musical instrument, it may not be 'one star' .
